If you haven’t already, please read about how seriously we take this.

We have dedicated our lives to producing the best puppies we can - the level of detail we go into is different to any other breeder we know. This all means nothing if the trainer you choose lacks the knowledge and experience to bring the best out in your new puppy.

Training (that actually works)

After years of watching our hard work be ruined by ineffective and ideologically captured dog trainers, we have created a solution that works for every single family, no matter the experience level or whether you want a well-behaved family pet, therapy dog, or assistance dog.

The issue is our puppies aren’t the same as other breeders'. They aren’t timid, they aren’t nervous, and they certainly aren’t unsocialised. The modern “positive only” dog training we find ineffective for most dogs, but particularly for the confident, intelligent puppies we produce, which have already started learning firm boundaries.

We believe in a training style that is results-driven, not driven by recently invented science which is focused on being seen to be kind and not having a well-trained dog at the end of it. The irony is, it isn’t kind, as this modern training often ends with a boisterous, anxious, and out-of-control dog that has never been taught right from wrong, can’t be allowed off the lead, or be invited anywhere, as it is a nightmare to be around. They are dominant and confused, as they can sense everyone’s disdain, but no-one is allowed to clearly or effectively communicate that you, in fact, don’t enjoy said dog parkouring off your face and biting your trouser legs.

Having been failed by too many Sharons and Karens running training classes despite not being able to get their unhinged Cavapoo to even sit, we have built a strong list of trainers around the entire country. They all work with the same ideology and ethos as we do, so it flows very well from our work here. They almost all have a proven track record for producing working dogs, be that gundogs, security dogs, or police dogs. For those requiring an assistance dog, we then recommend using a specialist assistance trainer for the fine-tuning, having built a solid foundation.

The basics of our ethos is that training starts the moment you collect and is less about training sessions and commands (although they are important), but is based around impulse control, calm interactions, and never accidentally encouraging any undesirable behaviour. With our process, our aim is to avoid the problems most owners face at 6–9 months, which trigger them into starting training, as by that age they should have a firm grasp on the house rules. It is proactive training, not reactive.

You do not have to take our training advice or use our recommended trainer, as we understand not everyone shares our ethos, we just had to get involved, as it was too painful watching well-intentioned families waste their time, effort, and money on trainers that would do nothing but make the situation worse.

The trainers we recommend all run their own puppy packages, this usually involves 1-1 visits to your house, as we have found group training to be almost entirely a waste of time, as it is like teaching a child to read going down a slide at a soft play centre, it is not an environment conducive to learning. We do not recommend puppy socialisation courses for the same reason, they actively teach young dogs to be boisterous, overconfident, and excitable around other dogs. We would much prefer you socialise your puppy with a calm, well-behaved older dog which they can imprint onto.

If you have a trainer you have already found or been recommended, we will always check them out and give our professional opinion on whether we think they are suitable.

Please be aware we do not earn commission or benefit financially from the trainers we recommend, we do it purely to enable everyone to end up with a lovely dog at the end of the process which is a joy to own.

We regrettably do not, under any circumstances, advise or get involved with training for puppies we have not bred.
